Just A Little Tweak {Cleansing : The Quarantine Edition}

In the time of writing this, the world is currently experiencing a pandemic and this has meant that most of us are in a state of quarantine. As serious and as life-changing the matter has been, there are some things that we are still doing for the sake of habit and holding on to normality. I know for a fact that beauty lovers are using their beauty rituals to uplift their spirits and I repeat, hold on to habit, and a sense of normality. Let me be a voice of confirmation and celebration. Your beauty ritual is valid in the midst of the confusing times we are living in. It is especially valid if it is adding to your mental well being.

Personally, my beauty ritual has been integral to helping me stay positive and contributing to my well being as I am at home with my family. Skincare can be just more than pills and potions for your face and body. Skincare can be a chance to take a deep breath, let the world melt away, and re-center once again. So, do you darling!

In this post, I wanted to share a few tips on how to tweak your cleansing routine as life after all has changed. We are not going out as much and we are probably wearing less makeup. Our days have lost their old structure and it is a strong possibility that early mornings have become later mornings and exact good night times have become fluid. Changing my routine ever so slightly comes from truly understanding my skin needs and lifestyle and this is a fact I always champion. Your skincare is not just about your skin type but also your skin needs and lifestyle. I hope these tips will inspire you to make some slight changes to your routine with the goal of honoring the recent changes in our lifestyle.

  1. Consider not cleansing in the morning. This may be difficult for you if you are used to cleansing in the morning but think about it. If you are barely leaving the house and wearing less makeup, do you really need to cleanse so much? Using a cotton pad saturated with toner, refresh your skin and then wash your face with plenty of water. I assure you it is probably enough! Try it for a few days and let me know how it goes! 2. Use a face mask in the morning instead of cleansing. Do I need to even explain it? I know most of us are stepping up the self-care game during the quarantine and a wonderful way to start the morning is to use a face mask in your morning routine. I prefer and would recommend that you focus on hydrating and moisturizing masks. Of course, you are more than welcome to occasionally use a deep cleansing mask as well. A quick DIY mask would be a mixture of honey and aloe. I usually refresh the skin with toner to remove the last of the previous night’s skincare, and then apply the mask.

  3. Give your face a super treat by performing a facial massage when (and if) you use an oil cleanse in the evening. Life has slowed down so let your skincare slow down too. Give yourself a sumptuous massage as you cleanse, being intentional to take this time to reconnect with yourself.

  4. Lean more towards cream cleansers and oil cleansers at this time. Foaming cleansers do have their place in our routines but cream and oil cleansers tend to be more nourishing to the skin and as I said before, let’s take this time to love ourselves ( and our skin) just little bit more.

Wishing safety and love in this season that we are in. I will be in touch soon and hopefully, you will be too
